Literary Luminary Week 4 (Robby B 11/26/13

Robert beck . 11/26/13

He found her in the parking lot, leaning on his car. "You know what your problem is?"she said. It was the old Arlene, and it felt good to Reuben to have her back, that little lightning bolt of indignation all ready to read him the riot act about one thing or another. "No. I don't. What is my problem?" "your problem is, you're so quick to think nobody wants you, you don't even give them a chance. I couldn't reject you if i tried."

I think this passage is important to the chapter because it show's that Arlene and Reuben really do like each other. They start to fight and the truth comes out. It seems that Arlene's statement's toward's Reuben come to him as a shock.

What do you think was going through Reuben's mind about Arlene when she said this to him? do you think he believes her over all his paranoid assumptions? or do you think he thinks she's just like everyone else and would never give him a chance because of his scars?
